Animal Care and Community Volunteers Needed - Sign up for upcoming 1 hour orientation session

The 2008 volunteer recruitment season has started!

Volunteer orientation sessions are a great way to learn about the volunteer program and how you might get involved at the centre, in the community or from home. Orientation sessions take place at Wild ARC and the next is scheduled for May 13 (7pm). Further training for volunteers committing to in-centre participation will follow in the spring.

Over 100 volunteers are needed to operate Wild ARC each week during our peak animal care season from April - October, although some volunteers participate year-round. Animal Care Volunteers (min 19+ years) commit to a 4 hour shift weekly providing husbandry to hundreds of wildlife in need as well as doing laundry, dishes, and cage cleaning. Working with animals is dirty, smelly, physical and sometimes difficult - but the most rewarding experience you'll have!

We also have NEW 2 hour/week opportunities for IN-CENTRE VOLUNTEERS to support Animal Care by participating in non-animal activities essential to operations such as diet preparation, cleaning, organizing, laundry etc. This role is critical to the health of our animals and may appeal to those who want to make a difference for wildlife with a more flexible but still very important commitment.

Please complete and submit Volunteer Application Form or email info@wildarc.com to sign up for one of the above orientation session dates.

Wildlife Interns - DEADLINE EXTENDED

Internships are the BEST experience one can get to work hands-on with wildlife when considering entering the field of animal care, wildlife rehabilitation or veterinary medicine.

The Wild ARC Internship program has seen 27 interns successfully complete the two month program since 2003, and many of the interns have gone onto careers and further schooling in animal care, vet medicine, and resource management.

Applications are now being accepted for the 2008 Wild ARC Wildlife Internship Program and 4-6 applicants are accepted each year. Although all local and international applicants are encouraged to apply, please note that non-local applicants must be able to provide their own transportation and housing and state in their application how this will be achieved.

Please review application requirements here and email info@wildarc.com for more info.
